2021: recap of an historic year for Aïdi

If 2020 asked us to be resilient, 2021 definitely asked us to reinvent ourselves. For Aïdi, it was the long awaited blooming, after many years of hard work. The team had several incredible results: we won the three biggest contracts in our history; our team has tripled; Aïdi went global, with our first client outside Quebec; the new features in our app have appeared at the speed of light. Here is an overview of our highlights in 2021.

Three major contracts in the public sector

In 2021, Aïdi won its three largest contracts in history. This result arrived following a very rigorous call for tenders process with the Société Québécoise des Infrastructures, the city of Montreal and the city of Longueuil. In total, more than $ 2B in projects will be managed in Aïdi annually. With these mandates, more than 10,000 users will join the Aïdi community to better manage their construction projects:

Team baby-boom

To support our growth and achieve our daring game plan, the team has more than tripled. Despite this rapid growth, we managed to maintain our organizational culture and Aïdi values, while improving our work environment. It's always a challenge to build a strong team quickly, but we're proud to have found the best people for the key roles required to support our growth. When someone asks us what makes us unique, the answer is clear: our team! Finding the right talent is a massive challenge, especially in the context of a labor shortage. Do you remember our famous unicorns Jean-Bastien Amico and Adrien Michel?

Our global vision

Aïdi’s team had a bold vision, and knew that our first international experience was around the corner. Our first international project took us to Billings, Montana. Becoming a born-global SaaS platform comes with its fair share of challenges: uncovering new modes of operation, adapting the platform's vocabulary for a new market, offering 100% bilingual support in new time zones and transferring our expertise into new legislation. The team continued its momentum abroad participating in the Propel by MIPIM trade fair in New York in early December. Marc Parenteau, president and co-founder of Aïdi, shareds his experience by giving a conference on “How construction projects can become predictable by using structured data and leveraging predictive analysis”.

The hot new features roll out

Throughout the year, the development team has worked hard to meet the new demands of our community and deliver new features. To increase the speed of development and ensure a constant delivery in a structured way, the team integrated the agile mentality in a more rigorous way, better structured the quality assurance process and reviewed the technical architecture of the platform. In addition, great emphasis has been placed on the security of the platform and the data it contains while preparing for the SOC 2 Type 2 audit which will take place in the next year.

Here is an overview of the main features that have been delivered by our team this year:

  • Definition of management perimeters by administrative unit
  • Management of requests and prioritization of projects
  • Improved management of deadlines and tasks
  • Management of timesheets, resources and capacity.
  • Closure and lessons learned from your projects
  • New portfolio visualization page

What a great year at Aïdi! Despite all the challenges, 2021 will be memorable in many ways. Several accomplishments made us proud. 2021 has above all enabled us to solidify and reaffirm our business mission: To give property owners a head start to better manage their construction projects.
